Andrew MacGaffey, Founder, President and CTO.

Andrew is widely regarded as a pioneer with a deep understanding of the needs of financial application developers and a talent for exploiting new technologies. With over 25 years’ experience in realtime information technology, his expertise includes APIs, messaging middleware, in-memory caching, system management, and entitlements. He is a highly skilled software architect, project manager, and server-side C++ and Java developer.

Prior to co-founding MetaFluent, Andrew was CTO of MetaFluent’s parent company, tbdCorp, where he helped to found the Securities Technology Analysis Center (STAC), the technology performance experts (see www.STACresearch.com).

Before joining tbdCorp, Andrew held a number of senior architectural and development positions in market data systems at Reuters. Andrew was the originator of the Reuters System Foundation Classes (SFC) API, leading its C++, Microsoft COM, and Java formulations as these development paradigms emerged. Favored for its simplicity, the SFC is still used by more Reuters Market Data System (RMDS) customers than perhaps any other market data API despite the fact that it was introduced over 15 years ago. Andrew also made major contributions to the Triarch architecture, including design of the first Source Distributor and creation of the Reuters Management Classes (RMC) architecture which enables management systems like TIBCO Hawk and ITRS NetAgent to manage RMDS. Andrew’s experience also includes development management of the Triarch infrastructure and two years on the commercial side of the business, as product manager of the Reuters Data Access Control System (DACS) and the Reuters Management System (RMS).

Andrew has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
